The Shenzhen-Maoming railway is to have 14 more platforms and 30 more arrival-departure tracks at Nansha Station, which will match its facilities at the Guangzhou South Station, Asia’s largest railway station where it has 15 platforms and 28 tracks.
The railway is to build a new branch segment by way of Guangzhou’s Nansha district. The planned Nansha Station is just in the middle of the segment, and will be connected with Foshan and Dongguan -- two important cities in Guangdong province.

The construction will be in a tunnel underpass form to accommodate the inlets and outlets of the Nansha International Cruise Ship Home Port.
The Nansha Station as conceived will have four parking lots, 14 platforms and 30 arrival-departure tracks.
The construction cycle is planned as 5.5 years. It will be completed by 2024, coinciding with another highway project in Nansha.
The highway construction is scheduled to commence next year and to end in 2024 with overall investment estimated to reach 21 billion yuan($2.95 billion), according to an assessment report.
The completed project will improve Nansha’s strategic status as the traffic hub of the whole Pearl River Delta Area and facilitate transportation contacts between cities across the water.
