A meeting to report on the Nansha Urban Traffic Brain Demonstration Project was held on Sept 16 in Guangzhou’s Nansha district. The project, started at the beginning of this year, has shifted local traffic management into a higher gear.
The project covers 98 square kilometers embracing a total of 231 crossings. It was undertaken by Guangdong Fundway Technology Co Ltd and is supported by advanced technologies such as cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence.
“We hope it fosters Nansha as a Chinese leading AI city,” said Ruan Xiaohong, deputy mayor of the district.
The new application is now operational in a wide range, with a suite of equipment connected to 319 enterprises, 4,174 key freight vehicles and 2,009 drivers and only a number of illegal cases remaining and as yet untreated.
The high-tech platform is aware of the precise traffic circulation rules applicable to the road networks and vehicles and can also master the traffic’s volume and control lane use to help ease traffic congestion.
The project group undertook a complete appraisal before launch. Data requiring processing now add up to about 2.1 million every day in the demonstration area.
The scope in charge of the traffic brain will be enlarged to cover the whole district in the next step, with 300 km of road to be added.
Guangdong Fundway Technology Co is a national high-tech enterprise that started up in November of 2017. It is concentrating on research and development of an intelligent integrated traffic management system and has the strength to contrive the centralized processing of urban traffic brains.
