Nansha celebrates Chinese Doctors’ Day

The local health bureau in Guangzhou' s Nansha district held a commemorative activity and awarding ceremony on Aug 19 in recognition of the second Chinese Doctors' Day, gathering over 400 representative doctors.

Ten doctors from the district' s different medical institutions won the title of "Good Doctor in Nansha" , on the basis of votes cast by 130,000 participating residents at the beginning of August.

Excellent photographic works themed on "I follow my heart to be with you" and depicting the doctors' perspective were also shown in the activity.

Sun Lanlan, a young woman grassroot doctor in the Dongchong community shared her thoughts with the public: " We grassroots doctors need to know the patients'  course of illness well. Only when we take them as our friends, can we guarantee them better health. " 

She focuses mainly on prevention of and publicity about infectious diseases, especially AIDS and tuberculosis. In addition, she cares about patients' psychological states, which she benefits by being a good listener.

 Du Yuping, a veteran pediatrician from Nansha Sixth People' s Hospital, took effective measures to improve the hospital' s equipment and to encourage young doctors, which greatly benefited local residents.
