Making 40 liters of drinking water out of the air within two hours, buying an electronic ticket through a wireless file, or washing cars by using as little water as a bottle froma mineral spring -- these things occurred in the Guangzhou division of the eighth Chinese Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Twelve teams showed their new products on behalf of Guangzhou' s Nansha district, all with reliable technological content and a business model.
" The significance of taking part in the competition for small and medium-sized technology-based enterprises is two-sided," said Chen Diliang, leader of the champion team last year.
He said that one of the meaningsis to urge the firms to reflect on their development strategy and commercial model while the other is to prepare a platform for their self-presentation.
The contest bridged entrepreneur teams and clients with capital resources and enabled the novice competitors to perfect their products and presentations.
" We learnedwhat to improve and which problems to solvein the next steps when the judges baffled us, which is better than that we will someday be destroyed directly by the market," said Shen Peng, general manager ofa participating Nansha entrepreneur.
The district has recently encouraged enterprises to participate in various innovation competitions, which gave birth to emerging industrial clusters like Unicorn Field, a local AI-based hi-tech incubated platform.
Unicorn Field was the first project initiated by Microsoft, the international technology giant in Guangzhou. The platform now embraces 86 enterprises.
