Mayor of Nansha District Dong Ke gave a report on the standing committee of the fifteenth people’s congress in Guangzhou on July 30, presenting the work progress of the local free trade zone.
In the first half of this year, gross value of production increased by 9.4 percent year on year, and general public budget revenue ascended by 14.6 percent, both ranking ahead of Guangzhou as a whole.
The number of registered enterprises rose from 8,400 to 90,535 in the past four years, a roughly tenfold growth over the initial year of 2014.
Dongke stressed the quality and stability of the city’s development in various fields like systems breakthrough, construction of a cooperation demonstration zone, and attraction of an innovative industry group.
Nansha made 457 achievements of system innovation over the four-year period, 41 of which were popularized across the country.
The district’s new models of e-commerce management and exclusive web service for enterprises have also been nominated as “best cases of free trade zone practice” by the Ministry of Commerce.
In addition, 362 Hong Kong and Macao firms chose to locate in Nansha in the first half of the year, bringing investment of $18.02 billion dollars.
Notably, projects of Nansha Science City and Guangzhou Pearl Science Park are expected to start by this September and to energize the city’s continued growth.
