Artificial intelligence empowers Nansha urban development

With the development of technologies, intelligent urban security system, intelligent traffic lights, and self-service shops will soon become reality in the future.

The Cloudwalk exhibition hall, divided into financial, security, airport, commercial, education sections, "X Tunnel", as well as a city brain, is showing what Nansha will be like in the future.

Nansha will become the core science and technology innovation center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the core area of the comprehensive national science center, and an important center along the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Innovation Corridor.

Cloudwalk has made a number of major technological breakthroughs, such as 3D structured light face recognition technology, cross border tracking (ReID) technology and accelerated human body 3D reconstruction technology with 30 percent more accuracy, according to a staff member in charge of science and technology at the company.

The 3D structured light face recognition technology is pioneered in China, and Cloudwalk is the first Chinese enterprise to apply structured light technology to a face recognition system.

Personnel verification, security checks and smart navigation will all be fully controlled by an "airport brain" at airports of the future.

The district has cultivated and clustered 311 innovation platforms involving enterprises, research institutes, domestic colleges and universities, and international scientific and technological cooperation resources.

The number of high-tech enterprises in Nansha has grown rapidly, reaching 475 at the end of 2018, more than six times the number of 2015.

The number of patents in Nansha has also increased rapidly in recent years. Patent applications in 2018 were up by 98.5 percent year-on-year, and the number of invention patent applications grew by 76.3 percent.

Nansha has focused on building an innovative industrial system to promote high-quality economic development, according to Pan Yuzhang, deputy director of the Administrative Committee of the Nansha Development Zone.

The advanced manufacturing industry in Nansha has grown stronger. Strategic emerging industries are grouping in the district, the marine science and technology industry is increasingly present, shipping logistics has accelerated, and Nansha's characteristic financial industry has flourished.
