Two transport infrastructures will be built to further interconnect the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in addition to the Nansha Bridge in Guangzhou’s Nansha district.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor sea channel, which will be completed in 2024, is progressing well. The other one, the Huangmaohai Bridge connecting Jiangmen and Zhuhai in Guangdong province has passed feasibility review and its construction will be underway in 2019.
The Nansha Bridge directly links the district to Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, making the Greater Bay Area more interconnected.
These are several important cross-river structures in the Greater Bay Area, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Humen Bridge, the Huangpu Bridge, the Nansha Bridge, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor sea channel, and the under-construction Lianhua Mountain Crossing passage.
Completion of all of these bridges will greatly contribute to interconnection of the Greater Bay Area’s financial industry.
Changes in financial payment modes have also promoted the financial interconnection process in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
According to data from the People's Bank of China Guangzhou Branch, as of the end of May 2019, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge toll had been paid by mobile means 72,000 times, bringing in 10.59 million yuan($1.54 million), which effectively meets the need for fast movement and fast payment.
