Nearly 200 people including representatives from Hong Kong and Macao universities, youth associations, and the internship employment base attended the event.

Yu Ruolan, the district's vice chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference, said that Nansha will continue to make full play of its reform and innovation advantages and firmly seize the opportunity to accelerate the construction of a world-class business and living environment.

"The cooperation among Nansha, Hong Kong and Macao has broad prospects. Young people are welcome to come to Nansha for internship, entrepreneurship and living," she added.

The program was first launched in 2015. It attracts thousands of Hong Kong and Macao youths seeking internship in Nansha every year.

A staff member said that in 2019, the program will be further improved for students. More than 140 internship opportunities in fields such as artificial intelligence, bio-medicine and new materials are being provided.

The district will launch more innovative internship projects, such as Tomorrow Power training program with institutions in Macao and Hong Kong. Macao university students can take part in Nansha Academic Counseling Enhancement Program and Macao Young Students Social Research Project Internship Program.

Nansha will speed up the construction of the Hong Kong and Macao Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Zone, build a 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Youth Image Communication Research Center, and organize a seminar on social work for young people.

It will be built as the first destination for innovation and entrepreneurship in Hong Kong and Macao and fully integrated into a national transition hub.
