On the same day, 62 charging piles organized by the Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau were put into operation at the bus stations of Jiaomen, Huangge, Nansha, Xinken and Wanqingsha, and will initially be able to charge about 300 vehicles to meet Nansha' s daily needs.

The 17 charging piles for buses are installed in two rows. Each one is equipped with two interfaces, enabling them to charge two buses at the same time.

"The charging piles in the Jiaomen Bus Station are all 240 KW. It takes 2.5 hours to complete the charging," said Shen Zhao, general manager of the marketing department of the Nansha Power Supply Bureau.

As of March 31, the charging piles installed in the five bus stations had all passed the charging test and were ready to get to work.

"We measured different powers of each interface and planned the daily charging schedule. The 62 charging stations can charge about 300 buses per night," Shen added.

Nansha has promoted the electrification of public transportation in recent years.

It is home to 507 pure electric buses and 76 plug-in hybrids. New energy vehicles account for 96 percent of public transportation, benefiting 800,000 permanent residents in the region.

"In the past, we had to go to the Zhudian road or Huangge town to charge. Now there are five more charging stations distributed in different towns and streets, and they are all built in the bus station, which is convenient and can improve the efficiency of bus operations, especially during the holiday season," a staff member at Jiaomen Bus Station said.

In the future, more bus charging stations will be built to further improve the bus charging network.

The 62 charging piles at the five sites that are now operational are currently only providing charging services to buses, and are not open to other vehicles.
