In the round-table session, Zhong Huibiao, chairman of Guangzhou Nansha Weiwei Development Co, introduced the protection and rational use of Nansha wetlands.

He said that Nansha always adheres to the principle of ecological priority, pays attention to protecting wetlands, and carries out overall planning and construction of wetland parks to international standards.

The Nansha Wetlands present natural ecology, opportunities for popular science and leisure tourism scenes. The rare migratory birds and mangrove resources are highly valued by governments at all levels and enjoyed by tourists.

After several years of hard work, the Nansha Wetlands have become a highlight of comprehensive ecological protection in Guangzhou, as well as a hot spot for holiday tourism in the Pearl River Delta region.

Zhou Ying, chief engineer of the Water Affairs Bureau of the Guangzhou Nansha Development Zone, introduced the water environment management of Nansha in the round-table session of the forum.

Nansha comprehensively controls pollution and improves water environment. The main backbone rivers in the district are of good quality, meeting or exceeding requirements, and the river environment is superior to water areas in the central city.
