Fourth meeting of the third session of CPPCC Nansha District Committee opens

The fourth meeting of the third session of the Nansha District Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC) opened in the General Assembly Hall of the Nansha Administrative Center on March 13.

More than 200 CPPCC members from 28 fields gathered together for political consultation, democratic supervision and participation in and deliberation of state affairs,contributing their wisdom and efforts for Nansha's economic and social development.

It is the first time that the facial recognition system was applied to confirm CPPCC member's identity in the district.

Cai Chaolin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, Party Secretary of the CPC Nansha District Committee; LiJin, vice chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference; Zhang Tanjun, director of the Standing Committee of Nansha District People's Congress, and Zhong Huaying, chairwoman of the Nansha District People's Political Consultative Conference and other officials and representatives attended the meeting.

After considering and approving the agenda, Zhong Huaying made a work report to the meeting, saying that 2018 was the first year of the full implementation of the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and was also the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up.

Under the guidance of the strong leadership of the CPC Nansha District Committee and the Guangzhou Municipal CPPCC, the District Political Consultative Conference and its Standing Committee thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, she stated.

Zhong added that“firmly grasping the two themes of unity and democracy, we focused on the main task, served the overall development interests and fulfilled the functions of the CPPCC. We made positive contributions to Nansha's reform and opening up, innovation of the State-level New Zone and Free Trade Zone, and acceleration of the construction of the Guangzhou's urbansub-center with the function of gateway hub.”

The report summarized the work of the CPPCC in 2018 from four areas: the CPPCC comprehensively strengthened the Party building; focused on the main task and served the overall interests to promote high-quality development of the Nansha New Area and Nansha Free Trade Zone; carried forward the theme of unity and democracy and gathering positive energy for the reform and development of Nansha; and focused on strengthening self-construction and further promoting the work.

In her report, Zhong also stressed that 2019 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China and the CPPCC will also celebrate its 70th birthday. The Nansha District Committee of the CPPCC should adhere to the guidance and continue to thoroughly study and implement important instructions.

In addition, the CPPCC Nansha District Committee should strive to create a good atmosphere, continuously promote the innovation and development of the CPPCC work and contribute its own efforts for the construction of a state-level new zone.

Wu Liming, vice chairman of the Nansha District Political Consultative Conference,reported on the work of the proposal to the meeting. Since the third meeting of the third session of the CPPCC Nansha District Committee, 169 proposals have been collected, and 108 cases have been examined and filed, a filing rate of 63.9 percent. Of the filed cases, there were 72 individual members or joint-sponsor proposals, and 36 collective proposals from the democratic parties, the Federation of Industry and Commerce and other organizations and groups.

After the meeting, seven key proposals were identified. The organizers conducted in-depth consultation and actively adopted and implemented the suggestions of proposals. The proposal handling and reply rate was 100 percent, and 57.4 percent of the proposals implemented achieved initial results.

The conference commended 16 proposals related to the development of private enterprises of Nansha, nine proposal organizers and nine advanced individuals.

At the meeting, the district's democratic parties, the CPPCC special committee, the local groups and members made speeches about "Promoting the rapid development of the private economy in Nansha", "The construction ofGuangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Science and Technology Innovation Center", "Accelerating the deep cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong industries" and many other topics in order to contribute to the construction of the State-level New Zone, the Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Comprehensive Cooperation Demonstration Zone and the Guangzhou's Urban Sub-center with the function of gateway hub.
