Located in Jinjiao Avenue in Nansha district and near the Nansha Cultural Center, the four-story Nansha Library covers 6,200 square meters.
Currently, the library has 160,000 books and nearly 700 kinds of newspapers and magazines focusing on various disciplines including natural sciences and social sciences. For the convenience of readers, the library is open 66 hours a week, and is equipped with facilities and reading rooms for people with disabilities.
Nansha Library is a comprehensive public resource and in January 2010 was assessed as a first-grade national library.
In order to promote its facilities and encourage people to develop lifelong reading habits, Nansha Library not only provides readers with a comfortable reading environment but also conducts a variety of cultural activities such as trainings, lectures and exhibitions.
It also actively organizes and participates in academic activities, provides technical guidance and services to the grassroots libraries in the district, and assists in project promotion to develop libraries in the region.
To maximize use of its resources and gradually build a mobile book service platform, Nansha Library in 2011 initiated a service with the public libraries of Guangzhou through which readers can borrow and return books freely.
In October 2012, the library's 24-hour self-service facility was officially opened.
Through diversified service modes, Nansha Library reaches out to the towns, streets, grassroots units, enterprises and communities, affecting readers throughout the region.
