Huangpu educator honored as outstanding teacher

On Sept 7, Guangzhou city held a publicity event titled "2024 Honoring Outstanding Teachers Who Moved to Guangzhou". The event recognized 10 teachers who have selflessly dedicated themselves to their noble mission.

Zhou Xiucui, the principal of Xiangxueshan Kindergarten in Huangpu district of Guangzhou, stood out and received this honor. Zhou is a seasoned education professional with 31 years of experience dedicated to promoting mixed-age education models and curriculum reforms.

She also collaborated with six kindergartens in the Guangzhou-Foshan area to implement a life-based curriculum based on picture books. She created a valuable curriculum model and resource system and set an example for early childhood education reform in Guangdong province.

Zhou cares for special needs children, striving to ensure that every child receives love and education. As a member of the Huangpu District Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, she addresses educational and social issues through proposals.

To celebrate the 40th Teachers' Day, on Sept 10, Huangpu neighborhood held a ceremony to unveil the "Most Beautiful School Route", presenting festive gifts to teachers and engaging in in-depth discussions.

This project improved the surrounding environment in Yiyuan Primary School (West Campus), creating a safe, aesthetically pleasing, and culturally rich school route, including facilities like the intangible cultural heritage dragon boat cultural corridor and sheltered rest areas.

These transformations have elevated the overall quality of the school's environs and contributed to an augmented sense of satisfaction among local residents.
