Guangzhou has canceled the toll of the expressway ring in the north side of the city, making its expressway ring fully toll-free. This initiative facilitates toll-free passage throughout the entire Guangzhou city expressway ring network.

While toll booths along the north side will continue to operate, drivers traversing the entire route will enjoy toll-free travel, regardless of payment method—be it ETC or manual toll payment. However, those entering from other toll highways will still need to pay upon exit, albeit exempt from the toll for the expressway ring.

Constructed in 1993, the city’s north expressway ring was the country's pioneer highway built through international cooperation and the first city ring expressway. Stretching 21.65 kilometers from west to east, it links vital routes such as Guangfo, Guangqing, Jigao, and Hu'nan Expressways, serving as a crucial transportation artery for accessing Guangzhou's northern urban area.

This toll-free measure aligns with Guangzhou's commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and supporting the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It represents a milestone in the city's infrastructure development, fostering smoother and more efficient travel for residents and visitors alike.
