New speed delivered from Guangzhou to Foshan

Updated : 2024-03-19

Significant strides is being made in the construction of Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, with plans to build a new station in Foshan.

According to the latest announcement, the incoming Foshan station will be equipped with three platforms and seven tracks, along with reserved space for future expansion. As it will serve for both Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway and Foshan Metro Line 3, the construction will be synchronized with the metro's latest supporting integrated transport hub project.

The high-speed railway stretching from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang is a crucial part of China's comprehensive high-speed railway network, catering to primarily inter-provincial and provincial passenger flows.

Commencing from Guangzhou Station, the railway traverses cities such as Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, and Maoming, ultimately terminating at Zhanjiangbei Railway Station. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, this line is anticipated to reduce the travel time between the city centers of Guangzhou and Zhanjiang to a mere 90 minutes. Furthermore, the journey from Guangzhou Station to Foshan will be slashed to a mere 15 minutes.

The Foshan segment of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed railway stands to play a pivotal role in fostering inter-city collaboration and regional development, as it will considerably reduce the travel time between two trillion-yuan ($139 billion) city centers.
