Updated : 2023-05-31

The Grand "Awakening the Dragon" ceremony took place in Wenchong village, Huangpu district on May 27, once again showcasing a spectacular sight.

This ceremony signifies the official start of the annual dragon boat activities. With great unity, villagers worked together to unearth the dragon boats from the muddy riverbank. They will then restore the boats for visits to various locations for the Dragon Boat Festival.

Wenchong village has a rich dragon boat culture and unique traditional customs that reflect its historical background. These festivities are an integral part of the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival.

Visitors are warmly invited to experience this exhilarating festival in Wenchong village.
