Huangpu selected to be pilot area of Sci-tech China

Huangpu district was recently selected as a municipal-level pilot area of "Science and Technology Innovation China" in Guangzhou.

Huangpu has introduced a series of policies and measures to support high-growth science and technology enterprises. The district has also established special support policies for unicorn companies, with a maximum reward of 9 million yuan ($1.25 million).

More than 20 unicorn enterprises have been identified, with well-known scientific and technological enterprises like Xpeng and WeRide cultivated. In addition, the district has provided strong policy guarantees to companies that have achieved high-level scientific and technological self-reliance.

The district is home to over 40,000 science and technology enterprises, of which over 2,700 are technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises and over 2,200 are high-tech enterprises. 

Huangpu's scientific and technological innovation ability has ranked first among national economic development zone for three consecutive years, driven by its strong demand for the transformation of technological achievements.

Huangpu has identified four provincial-level academician workstations, 12 provincial science, and technology expert workstations, 20 municipal-level academician expert workstations, as well as 10 innovation and trade fair achievement transformation bases.

The district has established industrial clusters for electronic information, flat panel display, automobile and parts, chemicals, new materials, e-commerce, food and beverage, and biomedicine, as well as intelligent equipment industries, of which the output value of its automobile, electronics, and energy industries exceeds 100 billion yuan.

Huangpu has promoted the construction of an international talent-free port, approved the national offshore innovation and entrepreneurship base for overseas talents, as well as awarded the first home of returned talents from overseas in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. 

It has introduced 111 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and gathered 1,260 high-level talents, ranking first in Guangdong province.
