Huangpu schools celebrate Winter Olympics atmosphere

Updated : 2022-02-15

With the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics taking place, students from Guangzhou's Huangpu district showed their support to the grand gathering in their own unique ways.

The Jiulong No 3 Primary School organized a themed painting competition. Various Winter Olympics elements, which ranged from the adorable Olympics mascots, Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon, to the National Speed Skating Oval and National Aquatics Center, were featured in the students' paintings.

Students from the Donghui Garden Primary School showcased their talents by making Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon out of orange peels, clay, and paper cups. An extraordinary hockey game was launched with the use of oranges, persimmons, and pumpkins serving as pucks.

Preschoolers from the First Kindergarten of Guangzhou Development District (GDD) made lanterns borrowing Winter Olympics elements to celebrate both the global sports event and Lantern Festival.

Students from Xiasha Primary School admired the dragon head that appeared at the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and learned how to make a dragon head and tail from Zhang Weichao, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage.
