Stretching 106.1 kilometers, the main line of Guangzhou Metro Line 28 will pass through Foshan, Guangzhou, and Dongguan. Its Guangzhou section will link up Liwan, Haizhu, Huangpu, and Zengcheng, while running through key areas like Baietan, Pazhou, Guangzhou's Second Central Business District, and the Eastern Coastal Development Belt.

The 48-km feeder line of Guangzhou Metro Line 28 will start from Guangzhou's Xintang Station and stretch eastward to Huizhou. The maximum speed of the eight-wagon metro will be 160 km per hour.

According to the Dongguan Rail Transport Network Plan (2035), the Shenzhen Metro Line 13 will extend northward to Songshan Lake South Station. The first phase of the metro line will run through Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base and Shenzhen Bay Eco-Technology Park, while the second phase will pass through Shenzhen's Guangming district and Dongguan's Songshan Lake Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone.

Huangpu residents will be able to access Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Shenzhen by metro in the future.
