Slew of major projects wraps up exciting Huangpu year-end

Corporate executives signed contracts on Dec 28 for 36 major projects worth 116.4 billion yuan ($18 billion) to settle in the Huangpu district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province.

Another 60 projects valued at 117.3 billion yuan completed construction or came into operation on the same day.

The new projects cover a wide variety of fields such as biomedicines, new-generation information technology, the modern services sector and artificial intelligence. They include a third-generation semiconductor innovation center, a smart manufacturing and pilot test center for Guangzhou Shiyuan Electronic Technology and four cryptology projects.

The signing ceremony for a new-generation information technology project is held on Dec 28 in Huangpu.

Of particular note was that a slew of projects – invested in by Akesobio, BeBetter Medicine Technology, Henovcom Bioscience, Raynovent Biotech and Huayi Regeneration – will boost the district's position in the biomedical sector. 

A manufacturing plant owned by Guangzhou Innocare Pharma Technology, the southern innovation incubation center for China Telecom, an auto spare parts plant for Cosma and a high-end intelligent equipment plant for Master were among industrial projects that came into operation on the day.

Facilities such as China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Square, CSGKC International Science and Technology Center and Chip Edifice also started operating. 

Among other major projects, construction of cancer hospitals at Sun Yat-sen University, Huangjiali and Concord was completed. ISA International School and Huangpu Tram Line 1 also started operations.
