Huangpu's Tram Line 1 starts operating on Dec 28.

Tram Line 1 in Huangpu district – located in Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province – started operating on Dec 28.

Stretching 14.4 kilometers from Xiangxue to Xinfeng Road stations, the tram line will establish an efficient service between Yonghe, Changlingju, Changping, Shuixi and the Huangpu Government Service Center. Passengers can also transit to Guangzhou Metro Lines 6, 7 and 21.

The tram line will run from 6:30 am to 10 pm, with the service available every eight minutes during peak hours and every 11 minutes during off-peak. A single trip will take 40 minutes and cost 2 yuan ($30 cents).

The mascot of Huangpu's tram was released the same day. The white animation integrates the district logo and plum blossom, while highlighting the philosophy of "convenience, environment protection and innovation" of the Huangpu tram.
