Liantang ancient village in Huangpu district is an ideal place for visitors to enjoy the charm of lotus blossoms.

As summer is just around the corner, Liantang ancient village in Guangzhou's Huangpu district has become an ideal place for enjoying the charm of lotus blossoms.

Located about 4 kilometers away from Huangpu's Jiulong town, Liantang village was first established during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The village was listed as one of the historical cultural villages in Guangdong province in 2012.

The white walls of buildings in the village are covered with watercolour paintings depicting the images of the splendid local scenery, such as the winding mountains, ancient banyan trees, ancestral halls, as well as a lotus in full blossom.

Shisicheng Ancestral Hall in the village, the only one of its kind in the village, was built during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The hall faces a large lake planted with lotuses.

The hall was built in a typical Lingnan architectural style and most of the sculptures in the hall are well-preserved, fully showcasing the excellent handicraft skills of the Qing Dynasty.

Transportation: take the branch line of Guangzhou Metro Line 14 to Zhishicheng Station, then take Bus No 827 to the Liantang village stop.
