GDD companies praised for donating medical supplies overseas

Updated : 2020-04-16

Guangzhou Development Zone (GDD) has donated a total of 550,000 masks and 40,000 nucleic acid test kits for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to overseas countries including Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Jordan, Libya, and Georgia since March.

GDD has mobilized local companies, such as SCI (Guangzhou) Group, Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech Co Ltd, and Daan Gene Co Ltd of Sun Yat-sen University, to accelerate the production of medical supplies urgently needed in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, such as masks, nucleic acid test kits, and antibody detection kits.

Efforts have been made by the district to help relevant companies in handling affairs like gaining export qualifications, as well as finishing commodity inspections and customs clearance procedures.

JD Logistics, the logistics arm of JD, undertook the transportation of goods from GDD to destinations including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassies of foreign countries in China.

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in China noted in its thank-you letter that the testing kits donated by GDD will contribute to the fast detection of COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia, helping to contain the spread of the COVID-19 there.
