A live broadcast event to promote reading was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on April 15 as part of a series of activities for the city's reading month initiative.
A special activity inviting medical staff members who have fought the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic at the front lines was set up in this year's event, enabling people to get a deep understanding about the fight against the epidemic.
Guests included Li Meiping, a nurse from the East Division of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sun Univsrsity, and Yang Chun, deputy director of Huangpu district's center for disease control and prevention.
In addition, famous writers like A Lai, winner of China's top Mao Dun Literature Award, and Shen Shixi, an author specialized in animal novels, were invited to the event, sharing their reading experience to people, as well as recommending excellent books.
During the live broadcast, online interactive activities were held with 10 lucky viewers chosen to win gifts.
