Located in the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, the town is the first of its kind in the country. It has a planned area of 2.5 square kilometers and will accommodate 50,000 people and include innovation centers, apartments and other support facilities.

Upon its completion, it will be home to high-end research institutes, and clusters of industries such as integrated circuits, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, digital economy and new generation information technology.

Guangzhou Googol Park will serve as the first pilot area of the town before the inauguration of the town headquarters.

After the opening of the headquarters, the pilot area will be a sub-venue of the "Haigui" town.

The main buildings in the Googol Park will be completed by the end of this month and promotional activities will follow.

According to local authorities, a 2-billion yuan ($283.87 million) campaign will be launched seeking investment of 20 billion yuan.

The WRSA plans to build 10 such "Haigui" towns across the country in five years. They will focus on high-tech industries and grow into bases where returned overseas Chinese can develop their careers in a sustainable way.
