The 3rd Guanzhou International Bio-Forum opened on the Guangzhou International Biotech Island, Guangzhou's Huangpu district on June 10.
The forum is a brand meeting focused on the bio-medicine industry. Initiated by the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the municipal government, it aims to develop itself into the "Davos Forum of Bio-Industry" and further expand the city's global presence as an international scientific and technological innovation hub.
At the event, the forum announced that it would settle permanently in the Guangzhou Development District, the Guangzhou Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (GHIDZ) and the biotech island.
In addition to a group of Chinese academicians, biomedical experts from Israel, Russia, Britain, and Sweden as well as university heads from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong and Macao University of Science and Technology attended the event.

"The biotech Island is a window for international communities to know Guangzhou's bio-industry, which fits well with the feature of the forum," said Wu Yun, chief engineer of the GDD's Science and Technology Innovation Bureau.
The forum also announced its goal - to become an annual grand gathering of the industry and a high-end brand conference that will help expand the presence of China and Guangzhou by 2027.
