2 metro lines passing Huangpu to be put into operation

Two metro lines that pass Huangpu, the eastern extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 and the second phase of Line 7, are expected to open for operation this year, making people's daily commute more convenient.

The eastern extension of Line 5 starts from Wenchong Station and ends at Huangpu Passenger Port Station, with a total length of about 9.76 kilometers. Line 5 now stops at six stations, including Shuanggang, Xiayuan, and Huangpu Passenger Port, and has a maximum speed of 90 km per hour.

In addition, the structural engineering of Line 5 is 93 percent complete, and six stations have been topped. Meanwhile, the parking lot at Shuanggang Station is currently undergoing mechanical and electrical construction.

The second phase of Line 7 starts from University Town South Station and ends at Shuixi North Station. It has a total length of 22 km, all of which are underground.

Line 7 now has a total of 11 stations, including seven transfer stations. It also has a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

About 90 percent of the structural engineering of Line 7 has been completed. Of the 11 stations, nine have been topped and mechanical and electrical construction has begun, while the other two are still undergoing structural engineering.

In the future, the Guangzhou metro will construct and introduce more lines for the convenience of the residents.
