As of Aug 1, Datang Longtan Hydropower Plant's cumulative clean electricity production exceeded 200 billion kilowatt-hours.
The Longtan Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower station in Guangxi. The dam is 192 meters high and 832 meters long at the crest. The normal storage level of the reservoir is 375 meters, the storage capacity is 16.2 billion cubic meters, and the installed capacity is 4.9 million kWh.
On May 21, 2007, after nearly seven years of construction, the Datang Longtan Hydropower Plant started to transmit power to the eastern region.
On Sept 24, 2014, the power generation of the plant exceeded 100 million kWh for the first time, reaching the highest record since it was put into operation.
It can provide green and clean power to meet the electricity demand in South China, as well as help achieve green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.
Over the past 15 years, more than 70 billion cubic m of freshwater have been supplied to the downstream areas, ensuring the safety of water supply in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
It also invested in environmental protection, taking multiple measures to protect the ecological environment of the Hongshui River basin. The excellent rate of water quality of the Longtan Reservoir remains at 100 percent.
