The National Development and Reform Commission issued a circular in June, in which it lauded 15 prefectures and cities for being proactive and effective in their poverty-alleviation relocation work in 2021, of which Hechi was the only city in Guangxi to receive the honor.
Hechi has been focusing on the follow-up work for its poverty alleviation relocation efforts.
The city has planned 43 follow-up support projects for ex-situ poverty alleviation relocation work during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), with a planned investment of 4.8 billion yuan ($712 million). Among them, 192 million yuan will be invested in 2022 to implement 15 projects related to relocation, benefiting 22,600 households and 112,200 relocated people.
Through a series of measures, such as establishing a relocation employment assistance mechanism, creating jobs to provide employment opportunities, as well as organizing skills training, the follow-up employment assistance work for the relocated people has been promoted in the city.
In the first half of 2022, the city carried out 35 recruitment activities in ex-situ relocation and resettlement areas, providing 45,000 recruitment positions for 80,700 people. From October 2021 to July 2022, the per capita net income of the city's relocated people reached 12,156 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.12 percent.
In addition, the city implemented supporting infrastructures, such as water, electricity, roads, networks, sewage and garbage treatment, as well as afforest structures in resettlement sites. It has also built public service facilities, such as compulsory education schools, kindergartens, as well as medical and health care facilities, meeting the higher-level needs of relocated people.
