Hechi invested 413 million yuan ($63 million) to promote the implementation of 24 industrial projects last year to support people that had been affected by its poverty relocation work.
As one of the cities with the heaviest poverty alleviation relocation tasks in Guangxi, Hechi helped 176,200 impoverished people migrate from remote areas in 2019, with an investment of 12.5 billion yuan, completing the poverty alleviation relocation task of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20) one year ahead of schedule.
Since then, the city has developed an assistance plan for resettlement sites with more than 800 people to ensure that at least one person in relocated families who have the ability and willingness to work can find employment.
The city has also encouraged the relocated people to participate in the development of characteristic industries through labor, land, and capital investment subsidies. Last year, Hechi planned 43 industrial construction projects in large resettlement areas, with an investment of 4.82 billion yuan. Among them, 24 industrial projects have started, benefiting 32,000 households and 139,000 people.
