Hawthorn
Tian’e hawthorn trees produce one of its most famous traditional fruits, its "red flower fruit", which has been cultivated for more than 300 years. is the country has 587 hectares planted in hawthorn, with an annual output of 3 million kilograms of the fruit that is large in size, delicate and plump, with a long preservation rate, easy transportation, and high nutritional value ( the highest in calcium of all fruits). It is mainly sold in the cities of Guangzhou, Zhanjiang, Gaozhou, and Huazhou and other parts of Guangdong province and is an important source of income for local farmers. The fruit is round, with an indentation at the top, and weights about 70 grams. The fruit is yellowish-white, delicate, sour and acrid to the taste, with a sweet aftertaste, and can be processed with other products. Tian’e’s hawthorn is mainly found in the town of Xiangyang, and villages of Xialao, Bamu, and Sanpun. It got pollution-free fruit certification, in 2008, and geographical agricultural product certification, in 2010.
