Lai Jiaming, a male member of the Zhuang ethnic group born in September 1964 in Yongfu county, Guilin city, is an assistant senior prosecutor.

In 2000, Lai encountered a poignant scene at a detention center where a 16-year-old boy, detained for injuring someone, embraced his mother through iron bars, both of them crying silently. Moved by this moment, Lai resolved to educate children about the rule of law.

In 2004, Lai founded the city's first volunteer organization dedicated to the well-being of minors. He actively sought funds, rallied support from relatives and friends, and led the volunteer team during off-hours—a commitment he has maintained for 20 years.

In 2012, Lai became aware of a girl who was abandoned at birth, lost her adoptive father at age six, and whose grandmother suffered a leg injury when the girl was 12, forcing her to shoulder significant family responsibilities. Lai’s efforts led to the city and county procuratorates providing her with financial support and ongoing assistance.

In 2014, the girl was honored as the first Guangxi youth role model. She scored more than 60 points above the national college entrance exam cutoff and was admitted to her desired university. In her thank-you letter, she wrote: "I will remember this care and warmth, and when I grow up, I will help more people in need like you do."

Lai also established "Teacher Lai's Studio" in eight schools and care facilities in Guilin and Yongfu, launched "Teacher Lai's Mailbox," and conducted "Teacher Lai's Classroom" sessions to offer children a platform for seeking advice or confiding in him.

He also led a team to collaborate with various departments and social organizations to form an alliance, establish town-family education liaison points, and protect the healthy growth of minors in various new ways.

Over the past 20 years, Lai and his team have visited over 100 middle and primary schools in the city, traveled over 100,000 kilometers, conducted over 2,000 law populization activities, reached over 600,000 teachers, students, and parents, rescued more than 230 juveniles with severe delinquent behaviors, supported over 120 orphans, impoverished students, and children of inmates, and received over 10,000 letters from students, parents, and teachers.
