On Jan 4, Lipu city, the hometown of clementines in China, selected a batch of clementine for the fire station in Beiji village, Mohe city, and launched a heartwarming exchange activity, which sparked a sales boom for clementines in Guilin city.

Guilin is one of the largest citrus-producing areas in the country, and the period from December to the Spring Festival is the peak season for clementine sales.

Lipu city invests 30 million yuan ($4.19 million) in special funds from the government each year to support the clementines industry. The planting area of clementines is estimated to reach 200,000 mu (13,333 hectares) in 2023, with an expected output of 710,000 metric tons.

Since December last year, Lipu city has sent over 100,000 tons of high-quality clementines to the three northeastern provinces. On Jan 4, the city selected 20 boxes, totaling over 300 kilograms of clementines, and delivered them to the fire rescue station in Beiji village, Mohe city, Heilongjiang province.

In 2023, the total citrus production in Guilin city is projected to reach 7.6 million tons, ranking first in the country among prefecture-level cities in terms of clementines and kumquat production.
