An asphalt freight train carrying 56 tank containers left Qinzhou Railway Station on April 26. This is Qinzhouss first "Yangpu Port - Beibu Gulf Port - Yunnan" sea and railway asphalt freight train.

It was expected to arrive at Xiangyun West Railway Station in Yunnan province two days later.

"In the past, the asphalt transported by the train was mainly sent through the Qiongzhou Strait. Due to the limited ferry capacity there, it could not meet the large volume of transportation demand," said Lan Shilin, a marketing director of Beibu Gulf.

It took about 60 days for the goods to be sent from Hainan to Shanghai by sea, after a road trip from the Yangtze River to Yunnan. That has since been reduced to 90 hours with the advent of the new land-sea route "Yangpu Port - Beibu Gulf Port - Yunnan".

At present, four routes have been opened between Beibu Gulf Port and Yangpu Port in Hainan province, with trains running every day between them, taking about eight to 10 hours to complete each route.
