On March 20, an investment and trade fair between Guangxi and Switzerland was held in Geneva, Switzerland, with more than 70 representatives from companies in Guangxi and Switzerland participating.

The fair aims to deepen investment and trade cooperation between Guangxi and Switzerland, as well as to publicize Guangxi's opening-up to the outside world. Another goal is to publicize Guangxi's international business environment and its supporting investment policies to attract foreign companies.

In the past five years, the import and export volume between Guangxi and Switzerland has maintained steady growth. In 2022, the import and export volume between Guangxi and Switzerland reached 710 million yuan ($103 million), with a year-on-year growth of 340.1 percent. By the end of 2022, Switzerland had set up four foreign-funded enterprises in Guangxi, with an investment of $2.01 million, of which $1.24 million has been completed.

Michael Kleiner, head of the Geneva economic bureau, said that Geneva will promote economic and trade cooperation with the Guangxi Autonomous Region to push bilateral cooperation in various fields to a new level.

Alexandre Gaillard, head of the French-language region of the Switzerland-China Economic Association, said that the Guangxi economic and trade delegation is one of the first business delegations to visit Geneva after the epidemic. The Switzerland-China Economic Association will, as always, promote economic cooperation and development between Switzerland and China in hopes that the enterprises from Switzerland and Guangxi will strengthen economic and trade exchanges and cooperation.

At the fair, Guangxi enterprise representatives in the fields of pharmaceuticals, automobiles, food packaging, silk, tourism, and consumer goods had exchanges with their Swiss counterparts.

During the delegation's travels, they will visit the representative office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Switzerland, the China Automotive Standards International Center (Geneva), and a number of internationally renowned enterprises. Their goal is to attract leading Swiss enterprises in the fields of precision instruments, oral medicine, health products and other industries to Guangxi.
