Qinzhou certifies first zero-carbon factory
CNGR Qinzhou Industrial Base recently passed and obtained Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) carbon neutral certification, becoming the first zero-carbon factory in the Qinzhou Port area of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
SGS is an internationally recognized testing, inspection, and certification body for carbon emission management. This certification progress was conducted by SGS in accordance with the ISO 14064-3:2019 standard for the statistics calculation and verification of greenhouse gas emissions generated during the production and operation of CNGR Qinzhou Industrial Base in September 2022 and February 2023. After detailed evaluations, statistics calculations, and on-site audits, all of the data met the standard requirements of PAS 2060:2014, which confirmed that CNGR Qinzhou Industrial Base has achieved carbon neutrality.
Zhongwei Qinzhou Industrial Base has been focusing on creating zero-carbon factories, which reduce carbon emissions by using clean energy and by continuous transformation and innovation in energy utilization, transportation and logistics, as well as production and manufacturing.
In terms of material production, the intelligent workshop, automatic guided vehicles , robot arm, and other high-end intelligent equipment independently designed and constructed by the company are matched with its intelligent manufacturing management system, which can achieve an automation rate of more than 80 percent.
In addition, over 80 percent of the company's energy comes from renewable hydropower, which reduces carbon emissions by tens of thousands of metric tons per year. The company has implemented recycling of water resources, carried out energy-saving and consumption reduction improvement projects, as well as promoted the construction of photovoltaic projects to promote the rapid transformation of its energy structure.
By focusing on the collaborative development of the new energy value chain, the company has set targets of achieving carbon neutrality in its operations by 2040 and in its supply chain by 2050.
