Guangxi signs deals with Japan worth 5b yuan
The 2023 Guangxi Open Park Promotion Conference was held in Japan on March 13. More than 70 enterprises and investment institutions from Guangxi and Japan participated in the project, with agreements worth nearly 5 billion yuan ($727 million) signed on site.
Guangxi and Japanese enterprises in the new energy, recycled metal, health food, and other fields signed agreements on cooperation orders worth nearly 5 billion yuan, among which Pingguo Jintong Investment Group and Japan Obayashi Metal reached a recycled aluminum purchase trade purchase cooperation order.
Japan is an important trade and investment partner of Guangxi. After the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) came into effect in 2022, Guangxi and Japan have had more frequent interactions in trade and investment.
In May and September last year, Guangxi hosted an exchange meeting on economic and trade cooperation with Japanese enterprises in Guangxi, as well as an exchange meeting on visits by Japanese enterprises to Guangxi.
In 2022, the import and export volume of foreign trade between Guangxi and Japan reached $1.18 billion. Japan has invested in and set up 84 enterprises in Guangxi in total, with a contracted foreign capital of $260 million and actual utilized foreign capital of $124 million. There are eight Japanese investment enterprises in Guangxi, with a total investment of $3.52 million, and the total agreed investment in China is $2.4 million.
