Guangxi strengthens cooperation with ASEAN
In the next five years, Guangxi will strive to make the most of version 3.0 of ASEAN–China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) to expand production capacity, economic and trade exchanges and cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to a Guangxi official.
China and ASEAN formally established the ACFTA in 2010, and reached an agreement on version 2.0 of the free trade area. At the 30th anniversary of the China-ASEAN dialogue relations held on Nov 22, Chinese leaders proposed the version 3.0.
Guangxi borders ASEAN countries by land and sea, and is a window for Chinese cooperation with the region. Guangxi has cooperated closely with ASEAN countries and held the 18th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, forming a channel through Nanning to ASEAN.
In the next five years, Guangxi will develop with the Greater Bay Area to deepen cooperation with ASEAN. Guangxi will accelerate the construction of a "Greater Bay Area-Beibu Gulf Economic Zone-ASEAN" cross-regional and cross-border industrial supply chain, and promote the joint development of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Guangxi will cooperate with ASEAN to build a series of major transportation infrastructure projects, such as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the railway from Huangtong to Baise and the Pinglu Canal.
Guangxi will cultivate scientific and technological talent and innovation teams, and build innovation platforms, laboratories, and technological innovation cooperation zones for ASEAN.
Guangxi will also take advantage of the opportunity to cooperate with ASEAN to build its sea economy, a demonstration city for economic development in the North Sea, and a strategic hub in Qinzhou for New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
