Chongzuo promoted the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, Chongzuo area of China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and Pingxiang national key development and opening pilot zone. The city's total foreign trade volume has ranked first in Guangxi FTZ for 12 years, and its export volume has ranked first for 14 years in Guangxi FTZ.

The port is the greatest feature of Chongzuo. In order to prevent COVID-19 from entering the country, Chongzuo has established a joint defense mechanism for the party, government, military, police and civilians to ensure the customs clearance of imported cold chain goods.

From January to October, the total foreign trade import and export volume of the Chongzuo area of Guangxi FTZ was 10.99 billion yuan ($17.22).

In order to protect environment, Chongzuo is building Heishui River National Wetland Park in Daxin county and Zuojiang National Wetland Park. Chongzuo is also exploring national characteristic culture and developing cultural tourism.

Chongzuo plans to implement practical projects for the private sector every year and has invested a total of 24.96 billion yuan so far.
