Yu Mengsun, a man from Yuyao, Zhejiang province, was born in April 1936. Yu is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a PhD instructor, the founder of aviation biomedical engineering studies in China and an aeromedical and biomedical engineering expert. 

Yu graduated from the Air Force Military Medical School. In 1958, he developed the country's first aviation medical telemetry equipment. He conducted telemetry for pilots flying at an altitude of 3,500 meters, which initiated research in the field of aviation biomedical engineering in China.

On April 10, 2019, a ceremony was held for Academician Yu's retirement.
