Professor Wang Wenyuan is the initiator of balanced acupuncture. Born in Linyi, Shandong Province, Wang is a member of the Communist Party of China, a chief physician and expert of the 7th medical center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army (PLAGH), and director of balanced acupuncture of PLAGH. 

Wang also served as a professor of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, managing director of  the China Association for Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and a member of the council of the China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Healthcare. 

Over the past 50 years Wang has gathered rich experience in more than 100,000 cases of troop training injuries and clinical investigation on 600,000 outpatients as well as clinical validations of more than 4000 hospitals nationwide, which helped him found modern acupuncture. 

With the guidance of balanced acupuncture theory, Wang created modern balanced psychology, modern balanced massage, modern balanced cupping and a series of balanced medical treatments. 

He also founded a balanced system of modern Chinese medicine, including brain technology, brain theory and brain culture. 

Wang has participated in development of more than 500 new technologies and won more than 20 science and technology achievement awards. He has trained more than 30,000 professionals in balanced acupuncture, an accomplishment listed as the nation's No.973 project and a project promoted by the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Wang has twice received the second-class merit and thrice the third-class merit awards. He also has been awarded a number of honors such as advanced individual for traditional Chinese medicine in military hospitals, technical expert of Chinese traditional medicine in military hospitals and the most outstanding military doctor and advanced individual in technology, among others.
