Qiao Wei is a PhD supervisor of the School of Pharmacy of Tianjin Medical University.

Research direction: screening of antidepressants, sedatives and hypnotic and anti-diabetic substances (active ingredients) in single and compound traditional Chinese medicine, research on overall and molecular mechanisms, establishment of quality evaluation methods, and new medicine research that meets the requirements for modernization of Chinese medicine.

He has presided over three key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Tianjin Natural Science Foundation, undertaken more than 10 provincial and ministerial and bureau-level school-enterprise cooperation scientific research projects, published more than 40 academic papers as the first or corresponding author, including 10 SCI papers, edited nine monographs and collections of teaching materials, and obtained six authorized invention patents.

Qiao's students were awarded the first prize in the Tianjin "Challenge Cup" College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Contest. As a result, he won the title of municipal excellent instructor. 

He was also the leader of Tianjin's first-class course "Natural Pharmaceutical Chemistry" and a lecturer in Tianjin municipality's program of top-quality courses.

He is now corresponding evaluation expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, corresponding expert of the Ministry of Education in degree and postgraduate education evaluation, a member of the Pharmaceutical Committee of the Tianjin Association of Medicine and Health, a member of the Chinese Medicine Committee of the Tianjin Association of Integrative Medicine, an expert of the Tianjin Administration for Market and Quality Regulation in drug and cosmetic evaluation, and a reviewer of domestic and foreign journals such as Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering and Pharmacognosy Magazine.
