Guangxi's Sanjiang tea selected for national-level list
Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration released the 2024 Geographic Indication Protection Project implementation list, with 44 geographic indications selected nationwide. "Sanjiang tea" and "Bama miniature pig" from Guangxi were included.
Sanjiang Dong autonomous county in Liuzhou city belongs to the subtropical zone of Central Asia and the humid climate area of Nanling, providing favorable conditions for the early budding of Sanjiang tea leaves.
In 2012, Sanjiang tea was designated as a nationally protected geographic indication product. In 2024, Sanjiang early spring tea was selected as a "2024 Favorite Chinese Brand", with the 2024 Chinese brand value information showing that the geographic indication brand value of Sanjiang tea reached 22.15 billion yuan ($3.12 billion).
In 2023, the total tea plantation area in Sanjiang county reached 215,000 mu (14,333.33 hectares), with a dry tea leaf output of 23,000 metric tons and a comprehensive output value of 8.6 billion yuan. Sanjiang tea has become the "golden leaf" for local farmers to increase their income and become prosperous, effectively promoting high-quality economic and social development.
