Guangxi sets to promote standardization cooperation with ASEAN
Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will focus on high-quality construction of the ASEAN National Standardization Cooperation and Exchange Center this year to build a channel for international standardization exchange and cooperation with ASEAN.
It was announced by Li Ze, director of the Market Regulation Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, during a Feb 27 conference.
Li mentioned that since 2023, Guangxi has actively participated in hosting events such as the third China-ASEAN Standardization Cooperation Forum and the China-ASEAN Heads of Intellectual Property Offices, resulting in the implementation of a series of essential policies, projects, and platforms.
Additionally, Guangxi has established quality exchange and cooperation mechanisms with eight countries, including Malaysia and Vietnam, promoting the expansion of quality technology services to 56 countries and regions worldwide.
In countries such as Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, Guangxi has collaborated with local partners to jointly build standardized demonstration areas for rice, sugarcane, and other agricultural products covering nearly 6,000 mu (400 hectares), resulting in a general increase in crop yields of over 15 percent in these demonstration areas.
Li added that this year, Guangxi will leverage its advantageous geographical position connecting with ASEAN by focusing on the high-quality construction of the ASEAN National Standardization Cooperation and Exchange Center and accelerating the promotion of standards, regulations, and other aspects "going global."
