The sixth China-ASEAN Ethnic Cultural Forum commenced in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Oct 28, gathering over 100 attendees on-site as well as more than 10 online from countries such as Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Titled "China-ASEAN Cultural Exchange and Contemporary Development," the forum was held by the Guangxi Federation of Social Sciences, the Guangxi University of Nationalities and the Guilin government.

Pressing issues such as the inheritance of ethnic culture and rural revitalization as well as the digital development of ethnic culture in the post-pandemic era were discussed during the forum.

The forum, first held in 2016, has been held five times and is an international academic communication platform characterized by equality, openness and inclusiveness. It has been taking an active role in boosting cultural communication between China and ASEAN countries.

U Kyaw Soe Thein, consul-general of Myanmar in Nanning, spoke highly of the forum for being "extremely timely and useful."

"It provides us with the opportunity to share our cultural views and ideas and explore pragmatic ways and means to further enhance our cooperation in integrated cultural and tourism development," he added.
