Guangxi medical team returns from Comoros with honor

A Chinese medical team returned to Nanning, capital of South China's of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on July 15 after working to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic in the Union of Comoros since March 17.

They returned to Hunan's Changsha on June 24 and finished a 21-day concentrated medical quarantine.

The team was formed by the National Health Commission with 12 members from Guangxi hospitals and institutions, namely the Health Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the People's Hospital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Nanxishan Hospital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Guangxi Center for Disease Prevention and Control, and the First Affiliated Hospital of the Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine.

During their stay in Comoros, the team carried out 48 inspections and consultations with local medical institutions, offered technical guidance, formed 10 professional investigative reports, held 33 work conferences with experts from Comoros on pandemic prevention and control, and provided seven group trainings for 384 people.

They also treated 24 COVID-19 patients, conducted 220 nucleic acid tests and administrated 279 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

Comorian President Azali Assoumani honored all members of the team with the rank of Knight of the Order of the Green Crescent of the Comoros on June 15.

A letter of gratitude was also sent by the Chinese Embassy in Comoros on July 21 to thank Guangxi and the medical team for their help with COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control.
