Cultural stories are embedded in the origin of products. A number of Guangxi signature agricultural brands were created based on wonderful stories in recent years.
Liubao Guqiao Tea in the city of Wuzhou, jasmine in the city of Hengzhou, Luosifen rice noodles in the city of Liuzhou and mango in the city of Baise are among the most popular signature brands.
Luosifen rice noodles showcase how successful a Guangxi local specialty can be.
The origin of the noodles dates back to the 1970s. "Luosi" is a kind of river snail, a key ingredient in making the soup of the noodles.
Though the river snails are rarely seen in the soup, the pickled bamboo shoots, agaric, fresh vegetables, quail eggs and chili oil give it strong flavor.
No longer only sold in Liuzhou, it has become a national delicacy in recent years and also become famous in some foreign countries. It has been exported to more than 20 countries and regions, including Singapore, Russia, Germany and South Africa and gained an output value of over 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) last year, according to a Xinhua report.
Similar success to the noodles can happen by expanding the marketing channels via agricultural exhibition on a series of marketing activities such as the China-ASEAN Expo, the promotion conference of Guangxi signature agricultural products, the Spring Tea Festival, litchi festivals, a local official said. The China (Guangxi) Silk Road activities should be taken advantage of and the construction of digital warehouses should be more studied, the official added.
