Fangchenggang in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has established a friendly city relationship with Zhukovsky in Russia, officials from Fangchenggang announced on July 6.

Zhukovsky, known as the "science city" of Russia, is the center of Russia's aviation industry.

Zhukovsky is now Fangchenggang's 11th friendly city around the world, following 10 other cities including Yeongdong-gun in South Korea, Ha Long City in Vietnam and Rzeszow in Poland.

Yuri Prokhorov, mayor of Zhukovsky, noted that the exchanges between the two cities in areas spanning the economy, politics and culture have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic - yet the two cities have overcome these difficulties to achieve cooperation agreements in sectors such as the economy, trade, technology, medicine and aerotechnics.

Prokhorov added that the establishment of friendly city relationship will bring more cooperation opportunities for both sides.
