The total import and export cargo value of 14 provinces, autonomous regions and cities located along the New Western Land-Sea Corridor via Qinzhou Port amounted to 19.85 billion yuan ($3.07 billion) in the first five months of 2021, increasing by 38.7 percent year-on-year.
Qinzhou Port, a hub port on the land-sea trade corridor, currently operates 47 container liner shipping routes to more than 200 ports in over 100 countries and regions around the world.
The port's overall import clearance time was 15.91 hours in the first five months of the year, 24.5 shorter year-on-year thanks to measures launched by the port, such as allowing companies to make declarations in advance and simplifying clearance procedures.
Liang Zhihai, a staff member at Qinzhou Port customs, said that the industrial chain and logistics chain of the port will be further optimized with the rapid development of port industries such as paper making, power generation, petrochemicals and steel manufacturing.
At present, the first-phase adjustment of Qinzhou Port's east channel expansion project is near completion, which will make it possible for 200,000 metric ton container ships to pass through. The expansion project is expected to help turn Qinzhou Port into a gateway of the land-sea trade corridor.
