The China (Guangxi) – Austria (Burgenland) Conference on Economic and Trade Cooperation was held both online and on-site on May 26, with the aim of deepening cooperation in areas spanning machinery manufacturing, new materials, software development, electronic information and tourism.

The year 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Austria. Guangxi has maintained close relationships with Austria; it sent a delegation to visit the country in 2019, signing a batch of cooperation contracts with Austrian companies.

Li Changguan, chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangxi Committee, said that Guangxi has now become one of the most dynamic areas in China with a huge amount of potential, and the region is willing to take the conference as an opportunity to carry out more cooperation with Austria.

Austria enjoys a strong industrial foundation and Burgenland in particular is outstanding in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and environmental protection and management.

Li said that Austrian companies are welcome to take an active role in the infrastructure construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and in the expansion of markets along the corridor.

Li expressed his hope that Austrian companies can carry out more industrial matchmaking with Guangxi to jointly establish an example for regional cooperation between China and Europe.
